Background

Internet Rimon is an Israeli Internet Service Provider, which uses Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) to filter content that may be offensive to members of the Orthodox Jewish community, it is currently the most popular (maybe even the only) ISP based internet filtering solution in Israel, and its use is widespread in Orthodox homes, Schools, and other institutions. Rimon's filtering service has also been known to filter sites relating to Christian missionary activity, probably on all levels (see: http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/Flash.aspx/253472), it is also capable of blocking all traffic at specified times. Even at some of the more permissive levels of filtering it blocks any page containing terms such as gay.

Products

A filtered internet connection which provides four levels of content filtering: 1. Protected: Blocking suspected violent or Pornographic content. 2. Protected Plus: blocks content relating to lingere, nightlife and other similar content. 3. Extra Protection: blocks television websites, video sharing and other entertainment based sites. 4. Guarded: Makes use of a whitelist in addittion to DPI. 5. Heremtic: The majority of websites including news and search engines will be in accessible. In addition to its main product of internet service, Rimon also offers the following: 1. Antivirus Software from NOD32. 2. Rimon Software: Filters content from customers computer. 3. Green channel: an ISP based filtering solution, similar to its main product, for mobile phones.
