Protocol Validation System

SAFIRE is a high performance, easy-to-use advanced multi-platform environment for the validation & monitoring of communication protocols and networks. Its wide range of features makes it suitable for use in many different areas. SAFIRE is a fully integrated protocol validation system for communication networks supporting a wide range of protocols and physical interfaces. SAFIRE has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications sector, being also used in the avionics & space sectors. With hundreds of installations worldwide, SAFIRE has been widely used for testing various communication networks (IP, IMS, Multimedia, VoIP, GSM/UMTS, AFDX, SpW, MIL-STD-1553, custom). It is easily expandable to support new physical interfaces & protocols and it is based on the SAFIRE powerful graphical tool chain (Protocol Editor, Protocol Analyser, Test Campaigner, Test Animator, etc.).

AREAS OF USE The SAFIRE Signaling System can be used for rapid prototyping & evaluation of new network features, for functional testing and stress testing. Moreover it can be used for interworking & interoperability testing as well as for network monitoring & protocol analysis. Based on an open architecture and modular design, the SAFIRE PVS is a future-safe and cost-effective solution for demanding requirements.

TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORKS SAFIRE has been used for more than 20 years for the validation, emulation and analysis of telecommunication networks. Ready to run test harnesses, test suites, traffic generation modules and protocols analyzers are available for IMS, VoIP, GSM/UMTS, Legacy networks, Wireless, Multimedia Communications. A wide range of physical interfaces is also supported (Ethernet, WLAN, Zigbee, Bluetooth, Datacom, E1/T1/J1, ATM).

SPACE ON BOARD COMMUNICATION SAFIRE offers an all-in-one solution for protocol validation of space on-board communication networks. It offers SpW 4-port PCIe interface, supporting the SpW protocol family, while it is planned to be extended to support in the future MIL-STD-1553 ECSS extensions and CAN networks.

AVIONICS COMMUNICATION SAFIRE supports direct AFDX network monitoring at 100Mbps and 1Gbps link speed. It offers advanced recording, statistics, filters and triggers. It supports fault injection at AFDX physical, Ethernet & IP layers. It can be used to build multi-port, multi-station distributed network monitoring setups. It also allows network monitoring through SNMP parameters acquisition from AFDX switches.

NETWORK QoS ANALYSIS / ASSESSMENT SAFIRE allows real-time assessment of QoS parameters for IP, VoIP, DVB networks. It auto detects data streams, measures quality metrics such as jitter, delay & packet loss and provides real-time results charts. It is applicable for ground-to-ground (IP over DVB, mobile, Ethernet) and satellite-to-ground (DVB-S) communications.

Description

Objective: ACTIBIO will research and develop a completely new concept in biometric authentication: the extraction of multi-modal biometric signatures based on the response of the user to specific stimuli, while performing specific but natural work-related activities. The novelty of the approach lies in the fact that the biometric measurements will correspond to the response of the person to specific events being however, fully unobtrusive and fully integrated in an Ambient Intelligence infrastructure.

ACTIBIO will target a multi-modal approach fusing information from various sensors capturing either the dynamic behavioural profile of the user (face, gesture, gait, body dynamics) or the physiological response of the user to events (analysis of EEG and ECG). ACTIBIO will also research the use of unobtrusive sensors, either wearable (in garments of uniforms to capture body dynamics) or integrated in the infrastructure (sensing seat sensors capturing the anthropometric profile of the user, sound-based activity recognition sensors, etc.).

In this way ACTIBIO will develop novel activity related and soft biometrics technologies for substantially improving security, trust and dependability of "always on' networks and service infrastructures. The goal is to integrate biometric technologies in Ambient Intelligence security infrastructures in order to support continuous authentication and monitoring. Emphasis will be on the unobtrusiveness of the approach and the universal usage of such a system.

The developments will be evaluated with the active involvement of users through several alternative realistic usage scenarios in three pilot sites: - Security operator pilot in the company indoor premises. - Vehicle driver unobtrusive continuous authentication to prevent hijacking. - Authentication via activity recognition and control in transactions through "always on" machines.
