Detica was formerly known as The Smith Group and changed its name to Detica Group plc in 2001.

Detica Group plc was acquired by BAE Systems (Holdings) Limited on 25 September 2008 and de-listed from the London Stock Exchange on 23 October 2008.

Simon Gawne is a Founder and serves as Chief Executive Officer of Streamshield Networks Ltd.

Mr. Gawne is Co-founder and serves as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development of Red-M Group Limited. Mr. Gawne is responsible for defining the strategic direction of the business and commercial development activities.

Mr. Gawne joined Detica in May 2003 and carried out the feasibility work that leads to the creation of StreamShield.

Prior to founding Streamshield Networks Ltd., Mr. Gawne was a Co-founder and Commercial Vice President of Red-M, a VC-backed wireless communications company that achieved an early lead in the emerging Bluetooth market.

Before Red-M, Mr. Gawne held a number of executive management positions at Madge Networks, a leading enterprise networking company, most recently as Vice President of Worldwide Marketing & Business Development. During his time at Madge, Madge Networks grew from a small start-up to global corporation with over $400m in revenues and successful IPO on NASDAQ.

He serves as a Member of the Board of StreamShield Networks.

Mr. Gawne has also worked at the European Centre for Nuclear Particle Research (CERN) in Geneva, and holds a PhD and a BSc in Physics, an MBA and has a number of granted and pending patent applications to his name.

Mr. Guy Griffiths serves as Group Managing Director of International at BAE Systems Australia Limited. He has been Executive Director of Detica Group PLC since September 25, 2008.

Mr. Griffiths has been Managing Director of BAE Systems Integrated System Technologies Limited since June 1, 2007. He serves as Group Managing Director of International at BAE Systems plc and prior to that, served as its Managing Director of Businesses.

He has over 28 years experience within the defence industry. He joined BAE Systems Integrated from MBDA Holdings SAS, where he served as Co-Chief Operating Officer from October 2002 to June 2007.

He has operated in most sectors of the business in a variety of commercial, procurement, IT and project management roles over 30 years.

He serves as Vice Chairman at Defence Land Systems India, a Joint Venture between Mahindra and Mahindra Limited and BAE Systems.

  • Peter Lynas, Executive Director

Mr. Peter J. Lynas has been Group Finance Director at BAE Systems plc since April 1, 2011. Mr. Lynas served as Director of Financial Control Reporting & Treasury at BAE Systems plc until April 1, 2011. Mr. Lynas was responsible to drive operational performance through the business planning processes; financial and business plan reporting; Group financial and risk management controls and the review and appraisal of M&A activities. He is also responsible for the Group's external financial reporting and Treasury function.

Mr. Lynas joined GEC-Marconi, one of BAE Systems' predecessor companies, in 1985 having previously worked for other companies in the UK and Europe.   • Edward Allen, Signalscape, Inc

Mr. Allen serves as Chairman of Detica Inc., a subsidiary of Detica Group PLC and has been its Non Executive Director since September 30, 2005.

Edward L. Allen served as Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)'s Deputy Assistant Director for investigative technologies. He retired from the FBI in 2001. Mr. Allen provided policy and procedural guidance on electronic surveillance, physical surveillance and other investigative technology issues and was responsible for maintaining working relationships with domestic and international senior executives with regards to law enforcement technology issues.

Experienced in the formulation and execution of legislation and regulations associated with technology policy, he represented the FBI and law enforcement on interagency, White House and intelligence community committees, working groups and boards.

Mr. Matthew Travis has been President of Detica Group plc since June 2008. Mr. Travis also serves as the President of Detica Inc. He serves as Vice President of Intelligence & Homeland Security for DFI Government Services Inc., at DFI International Inc. He oversees DFI Government Service's intelligence and homeland security programs. He founded DFI’s open-source intelligence practice in 1998 and he has also served as the Lead Designer and Manager for some of DFI’s most prominent programs, such as the Terrorism Knowledge Base and Lessons Learned Information Sharing, the national best practices network for homeland security officials. While at DFI, he has directed or authored a range of studies, including China's Science and Technology Development: An Examination of Financing Sources and Strategy; Improving Civilian Policing in Peace Operations; The Future Integrity of the Global Nuclear Non-Proliferation Regime: Alternative Nuclear Worlds and Implications for US Nuclear Policy; and Establishing a Biological Weapons Defense Information Network. A former Naval Officer, he joined DFI after three years on the personal staff of the Secretary of the Navy where he served its White House Liaison. Prior to that, he served as an Engineering Officer aboard the guided-missile frigate U.S.S. Carr. His military awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (2) and the Navy Achievement Medal.
