Anant Agarwal

Anant Agarwal is the Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Tilera Corporation, a professor of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science at MIT, and a member of the CSAIL Laboratory. His teaching and research interests include computer architecture, VLSI, compilation, and software systems. Dr. Agarwal served as Associate Director of the MIT Laboratory for Computer Science (LCS) between 1998 and 2003, and is a co-leader of the Oxygen Project. He led a group that developed Sparcle (1992), an early multithreaded microprocessor based on the SPARC architecture, and the Alewife machine, a scalable shared-memory multiprocessor (1993). At MIT's CSAIL laboratory, Dr. Agarwal led the Raw project which developed a tiled multicore microprocessor for instruction level parallelism (ILP) and streams (2002). Dr. Agarwal also led the VirtualWires project at MIT. He has been a founder of several successful start-ups, including Virtual Machine Works, Inc. (1993). Dr. Agarwal won the Maurice Wilkes prize for computer architecture in 2001, the Presidential Young Investigator award in 1991, and the Louis D. Smullin Award for teaching excellence at MIT in 2005. Dr. Agarwal holds a Bachelor Degree from IIT Madras and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.


Rob Chandra

Rob Chandra is a Managing Partner in Bessemer's Menlo Park office. Since entering the venture capital industry in 1996, he has been involved with 19 early-stage investments that have gone public or have been acquired by public companies. Mr. Chandra is the founding managing partner of the firm's investment practice in China and India. Over his career, Mr. Chandra has helped build companies in a variety of industries. He was involved with communications equipment ventures such as Altiga (acquired by Cisco) and NBX (acquired by 3Com). He has experience with semiconductor investments such as Envoy (acquired by TI), LightLogic (acquired by Intel), Mellanox (IPO), and Mobilian (acquired by Intel). Mr. Chandra has been involved with consumer internet start-ups such as BuyerZone.com (acquired by Reed Elsevier), Direct Hit (acquired by Ask Jeeves), SmarterKids.com (IPO), MotherNature.com (IPO) and Centra (IPO). Prior to joining Bessemer, Mr. Chandra was a general partner with Commonwealth Capital Ventures, which he joined after 10 years of industry experience. Previously, Mr. Chandra spent three years with Accenture working in their San Francisco, London, and then New York offices where he served financial services and high tech clients. Mr. Chandra holds a BA from University of California at Berkeley and an MBA from Harvard Business School.


Phil Herget

Phil Herget joined Columbia Capital in 1992 and focuses primarily on media and communications investments, both services and technologies. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Avail Media, Hatteras Networks, Hillcrest Laboratories, and Imagine Communications. Former Columbia portfolio companies that Mr. Herget managed include Altiga Networks (acquired by Cisco Systems), Call Technologies (acquired by 3Com), Columbia Spectrum Management (acquired by P-Com), NMP (acquired by AppNet / Commerce One), Ocular Networks (acquired by Tellabs), Riverbed Technologies (acquired by Aether Systems), Saville Systems (NASDAQ: SAVLY subsequently acquired by ADC Communications), Taqua (acquired by Tekelec), Telular (NASDAQ: WRLS), and Torrent Networking Technologies (acquired by Ericsson). In 1993, Mr. Herget joined Telular Corporation as its Chief Financial Officer where he led the company through an initial public offering, returning to Columbia Capital in 1994. Prior to joining Columbia Capital, he served in various financial management positions for Energy Service Company, Energy Insurance International, Marsh & McLennan, and Lloyd's of London broker C.T. Bowring & Co. in London, England. Mr. Herget received his B.A. from the University of Virginia and his M.B.A. from Kenan-Flager Business School at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.


Devesh Garg

With more than 23 years' experience across a wide range of industries, Mr. Devesh Garg has invested in, advised, and managed companies across all stages of development and geographies. Most recently, he lived in India for three years as Managing Director of Bessemer Venture Partners India investing in wide range of companies prior to returning to the United States. He joined Bessemer as an Operating Partner in 2003 advising and managing portfolio companies. Mr. Garg has also been closely involved in managing and advising Bessemer's investments in Avnera, Berkeley Design Automation, Azanda (acquired by Cortina), K2 Optronics (acquired by Emcore), PA Semi (acquired by Apple Computer), Applied Solar Technology and NetAmbit. He has made a number of personal investments in real estate, as well as in technology and internet companies including Sibyte (acquired by Broadcom), PA Semi (acquired by Apple), Avnera and Maginatics. Before he came to Bessemer, Mr. Garg was General Manager of the Security Business Unit at Broadcom (Nasdaq: BRCM), where he was part of the pre-IPO team and established their offices in Northern California. With executive management responsibilities for technical sales and field application engineering, he led his division to ~$500 million in annual revenues from nothing as the company grew from a start-up to its peak market capitalization of approximately $72 billion. Mr. Garg also serves on the Board of Directors of Fractal Analytics, Copal Art and Sunil Hitech (BSE: SHEL).


Lip-Bu Tan

Lip-Bu Tan is Founder and Chairman of Walden International, a leading venture capital firm managing over $1.9 billion. He concurrently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Cadence Design Systems, Inc., and has been a member of the Cadence Board of Directors since 2004. Lip-Bu invests primarily in industries relating to semiconductor/components, alternative energy, and digital media. He also serves on the Boards of Flextronics International (NASDAQ: FLEX); SINA (NASDAQ: SINA); and Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. (NYSE: SMI; HKSE: 981). Nariman Yousefi

Nariman Yousefi previously was a founding member and senior executive at Broadcom Corporation Networking group since 1994, where he was instrumental in establishing Broadcom as the leading supplier of Ethernet ICs. During this time he was responsible for a rich portfolio of networking products including Optical and Copper physical layer ICs (PHYs), WAN/Metro/SMB/Enterprise switches, Ethernet controllers and communication processors. While at Broadcom, he held multiple executive roles including Senior VP and General Manager of the Enterprise Networking Group and Senior VP of Infrastructure Technologies. Prior to joining Broadcom, Mr. Yousefi held engineering management positions with Standard Microsystems and Western Digital Corporation. Mr. Yousefi studied electrical engineering at the University of California, Davis and received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pacific and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California.

Devesh Garg, Co-Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Garg has over 23 years of experience in leading executive teams and managing companies across all stages of development and geographies. He served for 4 years as Tilera's founding president and CEO during which time he defined the strategy and vision, taking the company from its incubation at Bessemer Venture Partners through its outsider-led, over-subscribed B-round. In 2007, Mr. Garg launched the TILE64 processor and lead the team in driving customer design wins and revenue. Tilera received the prestigious Start-Up of the Year award from the Global Semiconductor Association (GSA) in 2008.

Most recently Mr. Garg was Managing Director of Bessemer Venture Partners where he actively managed and advised Bessemer's investments in Azanda (acquired by Cortina), K2 Optronics (acquired by Emcore) and PA Semi (acquired by Apple Computer). Mr. Garg lived in India for three years advising and investing in a wide range of companies prior to returning to the United States.

Mr. Mattina has over 15 years of experience designing and architecting high-end CPUs and multicore processors. Prior to Tilera, Mr. Mattina was with Intel Corporation where he was co-lead architect for the Tukwila Multicore Processor, supervising a team of architects and designers. At Intel, Mr. Mattina invented and designed the Intel Ring Uncore Architecture, used across Intel’s x86 multicore processor designs. This technology won the Intel Achievement Award in 2010. Prior to Intel, he was an architect and circuit design engineer at Digital Equipment Corporation, working on the Alpha EV7 and EV8 processors. Mr. Mattina also served as Technical Leader at Cisco Systems in the TelePresence Infrastructure Business Unit, where he contributed to the hardware and software design of next-generation high-definition video conferencing products. He has been granted over 20 patents and has published journal and conference papers relating to CPU design, multicore processors, and cache coherence protocols. Mr. Brown has over 25 years of experience in CPU architecture and processor design. Previously, as an AMD Fellow, he led an architecture team targeting the Athlon 64 (for desktop), Turion (for mobile), and Sempron (value mobile/desktop). Prior to that, Mr. Brown was Director of Logic and Architecture at C-Port Corporation, producing the C5 Network Processor. C-Port was acquired by Motorola in 2000. From 1980-1998 John worked at Digital Semiconductor where he contributed to the VAX 8200, VAX 6400, VAX 6600, Alpha 21066, and Alpha 21264 microprocessor designs and architecture, and directed architecture development for future Alpha designs. Mr. Brown managed the design team for the Alpha 21066, the microprocessor powering the Multia MultiClient that won NT desktop product of the year. He holds nine patents and has authored several publications related to CPU architecture and design verification. Before Marvell, Michael served in a VP role for ADC Telecommunications, Broadband division, responsible for the Broadband Access portfolio. Mr. Parshad has 27 years of experience in the semiconductor, electronic design automation, and communications markets. Mr. Parshad has held senior sales positions at Broadcom and Synopsys overseeing and driving rapid growth in their major accounts. During his five years at Broadcom, Mr. Parshad managed Broadcom’s global business at Cisco and achieved 350% growth over a 3-year period across all Broadcom product-lines, including pioneering products such as the dual-core SiByte processor. Mr. Aggarwal joined Tilera in October 2004 with more than 25 years of experience in systems engineering including in all aspects of hardware, software and system architectures. Mr. Aggarwal was the CTO and founder of Gotham Networks where he was responsible for architecture and design of the first network processor-based Multi-Service Switching Platform (MSSP). He was elected to MPLS forum's board. Previously Mr. Aggarwal was a system architect at Nexabit Networks where he was responsible for the first round of terabit router architectures and system design. Nexabit was sold to Lucent Technologies. Mr. Aggarwal has experience with Cisco, Lightream, Cascade, and BBN. He has authored six patents in the area of high speed network processing. Prior to that he was at ATI, through the acquisition of Chromatic research where he was responsible for development and production of multiple generations of graphic chips. While there, he led the financial effort to both scale and prepare RMI for a public offering. Prior to joining RMI, Neil held CFO positions at Oraxion, OneChannel, and Protexis. Mr. Dexter, also served as VP of Finance and Treasury for PB/NEC, the multi-billion dollar PC developer and manufacturer, where he had global responsibility for the three areas of Treasury, Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis and Reporting, as well as the Consumer Division financial support. Prior to PB/NEC Mr. Dexter held executive finance positions at Zenith Data Systems and Olivetti’s North America’s subsidiary. Mr. Dexter’s career began at IBM in both Canada and the US. He has an MBA from the University of Toronto and a BS in Industrial Economics, combining engineering and economics, from Union College in New York. Mrs. Dunnigan has over 20 years of experience developing and leading HR strategy initiatives and supporting management teams in the semiconductor industry. Prior to joining the company Mrs. Dunnigan was a Senior Consultant at Torchiana, Mastrov and Sapiro, a career management firm that provides individual and group outplacement, executive career coaching, and career development programs. Mrs. Dunnigan has also served in global HR management roles for Aptina, Motorola Semiconductor, now Freescale, where she held positions of increasing responsibility until 2006. During her time at Motorola she completed a three-year international assignment in East Kilbride, Scotland, where she was responsible for supporting the wafer manufacturing teams and implemented the organization's first operator testing and assessment processes. Mrs. Dunnigan received a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources Management from Arizona State University and is an active member of the Society of HR Management and the Northern California HR Association.
