Jason Lewis, Chief Scientist

Lewis has worked in network security since 1996 in various roles in the private sector, as a government contractor and as a government employee. Prior to joining Lookingglass, he worked for the National Security Agency (NSA). He is responsible for maintaining a world class development team and an industry leading product set.

As a Global Network Exploitation and Vulnerability Analyst with NSA, Lewis used his experience as a network security engineer to analyze network data, exploit networks of interest and provide actionable reporting for Counter Terrorism and Target Analysts. This work included analysis of BGP, packet dumps and various network protocols. He was responsible for founding and leading a group of subject matter experts in the field of Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN). Jason has also worked for Internet Service Providers (ISP), a multicast event management company, a WLAN service and content provider, and as a government contractor with Naval Sea Systems Command.

Lewis is an experienced computer systems engineer holding several Microsoft Certifications in systems engineering and network administration. His background as a network analyst and global network security engineer is unparalleled, and he has established, led and mentored several software development teams.

Derek Gabbard, CEO

Gabbard brings over 15 years of voice and data networking and network security experience to his role as CEO at Lookingglass. He is responsible for delivering products and services to Lookingglass’ customers, across the commercial, federal civilian agency and defense department communities.

Prior to Lookingglass, Gabbard was Chief Technology Officer at Soteria Network Technologies.

Gabbard also served as Senior Member of the Technical Staff at the world-renowned CERT® at Carnegie Mellon University. He was responsible for the development and delivery of information assurance and security curriculum. He developed courseware in cryptography, secure remote access methods, firewalls, intrusion detection systems and securing network infrastructure.

Gabbard also worked as a manager at Arbor Networks, the industry leader in behavioral analysis and DDoS detection and mitigation, where he was responsible for training development of products and technology aimed at large enterprises and Internet Service Providers.

Gabbard is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy.


Brian Garmey, President and General Manager

Garmey brings over 17 years of experience in business development to Lookingglass. His strong ability to identify market opportunities and develop strategies to further the sales cycle, will enable Lookingglass further develop in corporate, government and international sectors.

Prior to Lookingglass, Garmey served as CEO of Soteria Network Technologies. Garmey has worked with a multitude of commercial accounts as well as government contracting. He was a key factor in growing Soteria from a start-up to a cash-flow positive company.

Garmey has founded several successful, profitable companies ranging from a marketing production firm, to non-profit fundraising association to a real estate investment company. At Avery Dennison, he achieved record growth in revenue and market share.

Garmey was named the SmartCEO 2008 Emerging Growth Company winner, and has held a position on the GBTC Emerging Company Leaders Roundtable.

He is a 1989 graduate of John Carroll University with a BSBA in Business Finance, and was a Tie-Smith Fellow at the University of Maryland’s Entrepreneurship Program.


Richard Gordon, Chief Operating Officer

Rick Gordon is an expert in business strategy, security technology markets, and early-stage ventures. Leveraging his blended knowledge of the homeland and national security landscape, Rick is responsible for ramping up operations and rapidly expanding the Lookingglass' customer base.

Prior to joining Lookingglass, Rick was managing director at The Civitas Group, where he led the commercial strategy business unit. In this role, he worked with systems integrators, technology companies and government agencies to solve key security challenges and advance Civitas as a leader in cyber security consulting.

Previously, Rick served as CEO of Tovaris, a specialized encryption software company, where he raised the company's initial investment capital, built an enterprise software development operation and established relationships with several key strategic partners in the information security industry.

Rick was also a technology investment banker at Bear, Stearns. Rick served as a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy.

He received his MBA from The Darden School at the University of Virginia and his BS in Engineering with Merit from the U.S. Naval Academy.

Robert F. Lentz

CEO / Cyber Security Strategies LLC

Robert F. Lentz is the president and CEO of Cyber Security Strategies LLC a strategic advisory firm focused on promoting cyber security technology that advances the national security posture of the federal government and critical infrastructure. Mr. Lentz will aid Lookingglass strategically by lending his knowledge of the federal government and its need to make advancements in cyber security capabilities.

Mr. Lentz formally served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Cyber, Identity and Information Assurance (CIIA) in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense, Networks and Information Integration/Chief Information Officer.

Since November 2000, he served as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the Department of Defense (DoD) and in this capacity, oversaw the departments 3 billion dollar Information Assurance & Cyber Security programs.

He started his career with the National Security Agency (NSA) in 1975. Since that time he accumulated over 34 years of experience and established himself as a change agent within federal government and a catalyst transforming relationships with the private sector and innovators.

Mr. Lentz is a graduate of the National Senior Cryptologic Course, Federal Executive Institute, Harvard Business School in Strategy Planning, and the Resource Management Course at the Naval Postgraduate School.

He earned a Bachelor’s Degree with a double major from Saint Mary's College of Maryland and a Masters Degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College.

Dan Reilly is a Managing Director at Thornburg Investment Management, an employee-owned company with assets under management of over $43 billion. The firm manages equity funds, bond funds and separate portfolios for select institutions and individuals. He is responsible for business development in the mid-atlantic, a region that has seen over 400% increase in sales during his tenure.

He holds the angel investor Board of Advisor’s seat and offers his investment expertise to Lookingglass.

Prior to joining Thornburg, he was the Assistant Vice President of Business Development for Wells Real Estate Funds and served as Vice President for Keogler Investment Advisory.

Newt Fowler

Mr. Newt Fowler is a Partner of Rosenberg, Martin, Greenberg LLP. Mr. Fowler leads his law Rosenberg's business transactions and technology practices. He has an excellent reputation as a business advisor and negotiator for entrepreneurs and mid-market businesses, and provides Rosenberg's clients with practical knowledge and experience on the many business and legal issues they face.

He has extensive experience in general business planning, and in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, venture capital investments, and financing transactions. He also advises many of the region s technology companies on technology and intellectual property issues, including licensing and other IP transactions.

Terry Dolce

Mr. Terry Dolce serves as Vice President, Sales of Archer Technologies LLC (Archer Technology). Mr. Dolce leads all regional sales teams in their daily operations and revenue attainment goals of Archer.

Prior to Archer, he served as Vice President of Sales and Customer Support of iDEFENSE where he successfully built and led sales teams in government, Fortune 500 and Global 2000 markets.

He has held Vice President and Senior Director of Sales for NowDocs, Vice President of Industrial Sales for The Stanley Works and Global Sales Manager for FedEx.

In addition to holding positions in sales and business development, he has worked with MIT to develop and deliver sales training programs to thousands of sales professionals globally.

Matthew Stern

Senior Vice President, Strategy & Analysis

Matthew Stern is responsible for the strategic vision of Lookingglass, overseeing security and operations with respect to company products and services, as well as customers and industry partners.

Matt is an established expert in computer emergency response team operations, military operations in cyberspace, enterprise level cyber security solutions, and information operations.

Prior to joining Lookingglass, Matt Stern served three years with General Dynamics Advanced Information System as Program Director for the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT), leading all efforts relating to operational, analytical and engineering support.

Previously, he served as Director of Cyber Accounts for General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, providing expertise in cyber-space operations to the company and its customers.

Before joining General Dynamics in 2008, Stern spent 22 years in the U.S. Army culminating with command of 2d Battalion, 1st Information Operations Command, overseeing the Army Computer Emergency Response Team (ACERT) and Regional Computer Emergency Response Teams (RCERTs).

Stern holds a master’s degree in Information Systems and Computer Resource Management from Webster University and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Northern Illinois University.


Scott Schneider

Vice President Sales

Schneider brings 12 years of extensive sales leadership experience with emerging information security technology companies to his role as Vice President of Sales. He is responsible for growing and leading the Lookingglass sales force while implementing a worldwide sales execution strategy.

Prior to Lookingglass, Schneider served as the Vice President of Sales at iSIGHT Partners, a global cyber risk management firm, where his focus was on penetrating federal, enterprise and SMB markets.

Previously, his roles included Regional Vice President at VeriSign as a result of the company’s acquisition of iDefense, where Schneider was Vice President of Sales and Marketing. At iDefense, Schneider’s efforts resulted in an established sales team that doubled revenue for two consecutive years.

Schneider began his sales management career as Regional Sales Director at McAfee.

Schneider holds a B.S. from Texas State University.
